Ever since the original r/incels subreddit from back in 2016 and prior, the community has been going downhill. Numbers dropping off, banhammers coming down every which way, getting pushed away into quieter, darker corners of the internet, like we're some rotten thing, to be swept away and forgotten about. We as men have been shoved out of everything, slowly, over the years. Look at gaming, too, and how the lobbies are filled with females, and everyone walks on eggshells because of them, and everything is safe, and PG, and boring. "Gamer" girl streamers taking off to the donations of millions of retarded simps. The kids who once bullied us for playing video games have now grown up and decided they're cool, and now the games are being dumbed down for them.

Why does life feel like such a personal attack?

Yes, those factors suck, too. It used to be so much easier to weed out those who don't belong, or are bad actors. r/incels was a much more cohesive group with better, community-driven gatekeeping, as stupid as that sounds, but that's the way to do it. And it worked.

Community-driven is keyword. One reason why so many forums suck imo is because of the inconsistencies. You’ll see users who claim to want to gatekeep inceldom with posts like, “ban all fakecels”, but when said users get banned they’ll turn around and cry that it was unjust because “no free speech”.
